Homemade Cleaners: Stovetop Paste & Disposal Freshener

Sometimes, even though you have completed all your spring cleaning, you find your kitchen still smells! Those gross smells can come from leftover stove grime or the garbage disposal. Thus, since our P&J Family has been there before, we wanted to share a few kitchen hacks with you. Stovetop paste and garbage disposal fresheners are not only easy recipes but are so simple to use in your kitchen. Plus, you most likely already have the needed ingredients right in your home! Follow along in the video above or instructions below to learn how to make these simple DIY cleaners.


Stovetop Paste
Garbage Disposal Freshener
  • 3/4 Cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp. Liquid Dish Soap
  • Lemon Juice
  • P&J Lemon Fragrance Oil


Stovetop Paste
  • Grab a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add 1/2 cup of olive oil to the bowl.
  • Pour 1 cup of baking soda into the same bowl.
  • Add 60 drops of P&J Cucumber Melon. 
  • Stir until fully combined.
  • Then, pour the mix into a jar.
  • Instructions: Place on the stove, leave overnight, wipe off with a damp cloth, spray with an all-purpose cleaner. 
  • Enjoy your clean stovetop!
Garbage Disposal Freshener
  • Grab a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add 3/4 cup of baking soda to the bowl.
  • Pour 1/2 of a cup of salt into the same bowl.
  • Whisk until fully combined.
  • Pour 1/2 of a tsp. of liquid dish soap into the bowl.
  • Place a few drops of lemon juice in the mix.
  • Whisk together until fully combined.
  • Add 30 drops of P&J Lemon.
  • Whisk together until the mix is like wet sand.
  • Scoop the mix with a tablespoon and place on the surface.
  • Let the scoops completely harden.
  • Instructions: Place 1-2 fresheners in the garbage disposal, turn of the water, flip the disposal switch, add more if needed. 
  • Enjoy your fresh scented garbage disposal!
